Greetings King Families,
Thanks for an amazing first week back from break! It was a delight to reunite with students and staff with the energy of a fresh semester. We are excited to continue onward in Semester 2 and to keep up our momentum in a great year so far.
Here’s what to expect this week:
Music programs have some events on Monday and Tuesday. On Monday, Band and Orchestra students will have a field trip to BHS (8th Grade). On Tuesday, BUSD Jazz students across all middle schools will perform at the Freight and Salvage at 7:00 PM. For further information, please contact your student’s music teacher.
On Wednesday, January 14, our school will continue an annual tradition of participating in the Martin Luther King Jr. Teach-in Day. Thematically, students will learn about our namesake, his work, and other civil rights leaders across the school day. Check in with your student after Wednesday!
On Thursday, January 15, there will be an English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) meeting from 8:45 - 9:45 in the Staff Lounge. The agenda will be sent out separately.
Finally, students across all grades will have some time to engage with course requests for the next academic year on Thursday and Friday through Science classes. A separate message was sent out regarding materials for current 6th and 7th graders. 8th Graders have separate course requests for BHS that will be made in Science class with the support of BHS staff. Here are the middle school resources:
7th Grade Electives Information (for current 6th Graders)
7th Grade Elective Selection Worksheet (for current 6th Graders)
8th Grade Electives Information (for current 7th Graders)
8th Grade Elective Selection Worksheet (for current 7th Graders)
Thanks and have a wonderful week ahead!
With love,
Michael Tison Yee
