Volunteering at your child’s school provides support the school needs, as well as the opportunity for you to participate in the King community.
There are volunteer opportunities to match everyone’s interests, talents, and schedule! You can also stay involved in many ways.
For volunteer opportunities, see the Annual Events page.
New & Prospective Students
To enroll at King Middle School a student must reside in the King zone. Visit the Berkeley Unified School District (BUSD) website to check whether your address is within the zone. The enrollment process is different for families continuing from BUSD elementary schools and families new to the District.
Families new to BUSD must first enroll their students in the District, and request assignment to King (students are also eligible to attend Longfellow if desired). Visit the BUSD website for details, deadlines, and forms. Tours are offered each year by the PTA for families who will be new to the district or are considering multiple school options.
Families continuing from BUSD elementary schools will be provided with materials to select their middle school in the New Year. Families may chose to attend Longfellow or King. Once assigned to King, families will be instructed to complete enrollment with King’s Registrar usually in April/May. Information about this second step for enrollment is mailed to the families of students assigned to King.
Every year there is a “Parent Information Night” held for families of incoming students where Principle Janet Levenson will provide information.
