King's Week Ahead - Week of December 8, 2025

Greetings King Families,

Approaching the middle of December, I wanted to extend a gratitude to all of the parents who have contributed to our annual Friends of King fundraiser, which directly supports our PTA programming.  As of last week, we cleared the halfway point to the annual goal of $125,000.

As a reminder, this annual goal is what is needed to continue to fund existing programs, which include:

  • Staff salaries for our amazing Community Building Counselor position

  • The Writer Coach Program

  • The Edible Schoolyard

  • Classroom, Science/STEM & Art Supplies

  • Community Events like 6th grade welcome dinners, the Welcome Fair, Fall Festival, field trips, assemblies, the 8th grade dance, teacher events — and hopefully more fun gatherings like Winter & Spring Festivals!

  • Young Men of Color Program

  • Family Engagement activities

If you haven't had a chance to contribute yet, please consider doing so now so that we can close out 2025 strong!

Here’s what to expect this week:

  • On Tuesday, December 9, there will be a School Site Council meeting from 6:00 to 6:30 PM on Google Meet, followed by a Title I meeting from 6:30 - 7:00 PM. As a school that qualifies for Title I funding, information will be shared about how our school programming is supported by that funding. Both meetings will share the same Google Meet link.

  • On Thursday, December 11, our Drama students will perform their Winter One Act at 6:30 PM in the Auditorium. This is followed by another performance on Friday, December 12, also at 6:30 PM.

Additionally, we are happy to roll out the Student Activities Calendar (linked), which is a helpful resource for students to preview events happening at school each week.

Thanks and have a great week ahead!

With love,

Michael Tison Yee
