PTA E-Tree News - November 26, 2025

Do you live in Berkeley and can’t afford to pay for kids’ recreation programs or a High Sierras camp for your family? We have scholarships to get half or all of the fees waived. We’ll also help you apply.

These fee waivers, which you can get by applying online, include programs for kids such as:

  • A day camp providing up to four sports

  • After-school academic support and activities

  • A skateboard camp to learn the basics or advanced tricks

Scholarships can cover half or all the program costs, depending on family size and income. Families earning between $54,400 and $144,000 may qualify. Higher incomes may still be considered through a case-by-case review.

Apply online for a new scholarship or to renew your scholarship for 2026. Attend in person a workshop on December 9 to get help from staff with your application.

Hello Teen families,

The Teen Night Holiday Turn Up Dance will be happening for all BUSD Middle Schoolers on December 5th, from 6-9pm, at Frances Albrier (2800 Park St. Berkeley).

We will not be taking any walk ups this year. It is easier on our staff to get the teens in and having fun and then the students don’t have to wait in line as long which means, MORE DANCING!

There is no better time than now, to bring the community together.

Hope to see you all there!

Dear King Families,

As you plan for this year's Giving Tuesday on December 2, please consider a gift to the Friends of King campaign.

To date we’ve raised $52,450 towards our $125,000 fundraising goal.

We’re nearly halfway there!

If you haven’t had a chance to give yet, we’d truly appreciate your support this week.

Fundraising is critical this year due to budget cuts and the end of COVID-era surplus.

Donations raised today directly impact the future of many King PTA-funded programs including:

  1. Staff Salaries (Community Building Counselor, Writer Coach)

  2. The Edible Schoolyard

  3. Classroom, Science/STEM & Art Supplies

  4. Community Events: 6th Grade welcome dinners, Welcome Fair, Fall Festival, field trips & assemblies, 8th grade dance, teacher events; and other potential gatherings like Winter & Spring Festivals

  5. Young Men of Color Program

  6. Family Engagement

We accept company and employer matching. Ask your HR or supervisor to find out if your company offers this benefit. We’re happy to help provide information you need to get this started.

We’d love your help to keep this community effort going strong.

Any contribution makes a difference!

Please spread the word and share with friends and family.

ps. We are a 501(c)3 registered charity and all gifts are tax deductible. Please visit our giving page to learn more.
