Greetings King Families,
We hope this Spring Break has brought you and your family rest and relaxation. We look forward to reuniting this week and pushing through an eventful month of April, headlined with a theme of preparation and readiness, getting ready to show off our learning when May and end-of-year testing happens.
Here’s what to expect this week:
As we return to school this week, students will have their last STAR assessment for Reading and Math. This Spring assessment is important in supporting our efforts to gauge student progress, determine intervention needs, and to finish our final prep for the end of the year.
On Wednesday, Music students (0 Period) will have a field trip to the Giants game. Check with your student’s 0 Period teacher to confirm if their class is attending.
On Saturday, April 11, the Edible Schoolyard will be hosting a garden work party from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM
Also on Saturday is the African American Success Framework 8th to 9th Grade Transition Fair, 10am-12:30pm at Berkeley High School. This event is designed to equip African American 8th grade students and families with the information they need to succeed in their transition from middle school to high school. Attendees will have the chance to get resources, meet teachers, tour the campus, and learn about the opportunities Berkeley High has in store. Flyer here.
As a friendly reminder, we sent this message home on Friday before break:
Beginning after Spring Break on Monday, April 6, 2026, there will be limited and restricted access for vehicles on Grant Street, closest to the school. At this time, essential traffic lanes and our neighbors are being negatively impacted by double parked vehicles, and for this reason, cars will not be allowed into this area for pick up. You will see this area blocked off in the afternoons.
Please prioritize and arrange vehicle pickup further away from campus–a block or two away from the school, there are more street-parking options and less traffic. We also highly encourage our students to walk, bike, and use public transportation when practical.
Thanks and have a wonderful week ahead!
With love,
Michael Tison Yee
