King Families,
Progress report grades will be mailed home next week. This time it will only be Habits of Work (HOW) grades which will show your students efforts thus far.
We need your help with afternoon supervision. Please have a plan for your student to socialize away from school and the neighboring business if they are not enrolled in our afterschool program. We are getting called in to supervise students in the neighborhood and on Hopkins St for an hour or more after school.
And we have had a rash of vandalism connected to a TikTok challenge to steal items from school and post photos on TikTok. Please return any items your student may have taken---exit signs, faucet handles, paper towel dispensers, soap dispensers, etc. It is costly to replace these items. We are making our way through a long list of parents to call.
Our first PTA meeting of the year is on Tuesday on Zoom.
Check our website Google calendar for the link. https://www.mlkmiddleschool.org/calendar
One last call for School Site Council nominations. They will be due on Monday at 4PM. You can nominate yourself here. https://forms.gle/jizYKDy8TBAGC2N99

Parent Education 2021-22 King MS Parent Education Workshops
There is a full calendar of virtual offerings this year that we hope will be useful and supportive. Special this year, we are fortunate to offer a 4-part series of Anti-Racism Workshops with King MS consultant, Dr. Rachelle Rogers-Ard.
We encourage you to plan to attend all four workshops, if possible, and hope that by sharing the dates this far in advance families are able to calendar them. All of the Workshops will be virtual, and they will follow the PTA Meetings on Tuesday evenings.
Our first Parent Education Workshop is next Tuesday, 9/21/21 from 7:00pm – 8:00pm. See below for details.

COVID testing went very well this week for our 6th graders, and all registered students were tested during their first period block. If your student was not tested, please sign them up through Primary Health: https://my.primary.health/l/berkeley_usaIf they are signed up one time, they will get tested weekly. At this time BUSD is only testing our 6th graders.
