King Families,
We had a really great first week back at school although we were missing a lot of students but not staff. Although you hear about teacher shortages in surrounding districts I am so proud to say that was not an issue for us this week. Our teachers were at work and willing to jump in and cover for any colleague whose class needed coverage. Please take the time to recognize our teachers who are doing a tough job and also working together to help out the larger community.
The covid cases are on the rise but, fortunately, the symptoms seem to be mild with no obvious transmission at school. Nonetheless, please keep your student home if they have symptoms and get them tested. Please watch your inbox or check the BUSD website for the most updated information. The guidelines are shifting and it is important to stay current. We will continue to do our best to keep you informed but checking the District website is the best way to stay informed.
Please remind any student who wants to participate that there is another student film contest going on right now. Entries are due Jan 13. The theme of this challenge is: Dr. King's Legacy: How We Can Carry on His Work for Justice Send a 3-5 minute film link to me. It is best to send it via a YouTube link so I can easily share it with our community. The school celebrates Dr. King's birthday each year with various educational experiences.
Monday night there is a School Site Council meeting via Zoom and we will be approving the school safety plan. The agenda for the meeting is here and the plan is attached.
We have PTA and parent education on Tuesday night. Check our website for the calendar with the zoom links and updated information.
Have a great weekend!
Janet Levenson
