Parenting in the Digital Era: Supporting Dialogue and Strategies for Building Healthy Tech Habits

Young people are seemingly glued to their devices. But what are they actually doing on them? This workshop offers insights shared by teens themselves and aims to shift families from a fear-based approach for managing their children’s technology use towards perspectives and strategies grounded in understanding, empathy and sustainability.

• Gain a deeper understanding of what young people are facing online

• Discover ways to dialogue with young people about their digital use in an effort to understand their perspectives

• Practice strategies alongside young people for developing a balanced, healthy relationship with technology

Bio: Reichi Lee has two kids at King and is the Director of Curriculum and Programs at My Digital TAT2, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting digital well-being and media literacy by helping young people navigate online complexities and think critically about their digital interactions. Previously, Reichi worked as a foster youth attorney at East Bay Children's Law and as an associate dean of online education and academic achievement at Golden Gate University School of Law.
