The Week Ahead - Week of September 8, 2025

Greetings King Families,

Thank you for your presence and engagement at Back to School Night–for our team, it was truly a positive opportunity for our staff to build connections with you as we move through the earliest part of this school year. The ability for us to stay connected and have strong lines of communication will allow us to collectively serve our students.

Here’s what the week will look like:

• On Thursday, September 11, we will hold our first English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) meeting from 8:45 - 9:45 AM in the Staff Lounge. A separate message with the agenda will be sent out in advance of this meeting.

• Saturday, September 13, the Edible Schoolyard will be hosting the first garden work party of the year from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM.

Other Items:

• The first round of 6th Grade Welcome Dinners are coming up, beginning the week of September 15. Ms. Ortega will be sending out separate messaging about which core groups are invited on specific dates.

• As a friendly reminder, we are seeking parent and guardian members for this year’s School Site Council (SSC) and representatives for the district Planning & Oversight (P&O) Committee. Please take a moment to see the description of our various committees here. Then, you may nominate yourself using this form.

• Here are some parent tips courtesy of our Office of Family Engagement and Equity (OFEE) team
