Welcome Fair

Every student must attend the Welcome Fair

The school year begins with the Welcome Fair, where students and their parents come to pick up classroom and teacher assignments.

The Welcome fair is usually held on the same week or the week before school starts.

This year it is scheduled for Friday, August 24, 2018 — Please look at the calendar to check the date!

Every student must attend the Welcome Fair and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

This is also the time to:

  • have the opportunity to learn all about what this wonderful school has to offer, including:  After-school Program, Music, Sports, Enrichment, Edible Schoolyard, PTA and more!
  • join the PTA and learn about volunteer opportunities
  • pickup pre-purchased and purchase King PE uniforms (7th and 8th graders only)
  • turn in any forms you have filled out & 7th grade families provide TDap immunization documentation
  • fill out your Emergency Card (so bring info needed)

Enter the King campus at the Grant Street gate. Parking is available on playground. Watch out for pedestrians!

Arrival times:

For NEW students (6th and new students) arrival at the Welcome Fair is organized by STUDENT LAST NAME

  • A-D: arrival time 8:30 am     
  • E-Le: arrival time 9:30 am
  • Li-R: arrival time 10:30 am    
  • S-Z: arrival time 11:30 am

For CONTINUING (7th and 8th grade) students, arrival at the Welcome Fair is organized by STUDENT LAST NAME

  • A-E: arrival time 1:00     
  • F-K: arrival time 2:00
  • L-Ra: arrival time 3:00     
  • Re-Z: arrival time 4:00

Limited time 5-6pm for those with restricted working hours.

You should bring with you:

  • cash or check to pay for After School fees, PE clothing, and PTA membership
  • a pen for filling out forms
  • You will be filling out your Emergency Card so bring info needed such as names and contact information/details for your emergency contacts, doctor, and dentist and medical insurance provider, for filling out a Student Emergency Card at the Fair (mostly 7th and 8th graders)

Classroom and teacher assignments will be provided to students accompanied by a parent or guardian. 

After School Program

If you plan to enroll your student in the Berkeley LEARNS after school programs, you should complete the online registration form before coming to the welcome fair. The first opportunity for after school registration will be held on Tuesday the week before school starts from 2:00-5:30 for incoming 6th grade and new families, and on Thursday the week before school starts from 2:00-5:30 for returning families (7th & 8th grades). Please take advantage of these early registration dates and avoid the last minute rush.
