Welcome Fair

Every student must attend the Welcome Fair Monday, August 28

at the  King Dining Commons aka Cafeteria (see time slots below)

The school year begins with the Welcome Fair, where students and their parents come to pick up classroom and teacher assignments.

Every student must attend the Welcome Fair and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

This is also the time to:

  • learn about and sign up for programs in music, sports, after-school enrichment
  • join the PTA and learn about volunteer opportunities
  • pickup pre-purchased and purchase King PE uniforms (7th and 8th graders only)
  • turn in any forms you have filled out

You should bring with you:

  • cash or check to pay for After School fees, PE clothing, and PTA membership
  • a pen for filling out forms
  • names and contact information/details for your emergency contacts, doctor, and dentist and medical insurance provider, if relevant, if you will be filling out a Student Emergency Card at the Fair (mostly 7th and 8th graders)

Incoming 7th graders must provide proof of TDap Immunization to the King administrative offices prior to the Welcome Fair. For more information about the TDap requirement, please visit the City of Berkeley Pertussis vaccine page.

After School Program

If you plan to enroll your student in the Berkeley LEARNS after school programs, you should complete the online registration form before coming to the welcome fair. The first opportunity for after school registration will be held on Tuesday the week before school starts from 2:00-5:30 for incoming 6th grade and new families, and on Thursday the week before school starts from 2:00-5:30 for returning families (7th & 8th grades). Please take advantage of these early registration dates and avoid the last minute rush. The second opportunity for registration will be at the Welcome Fair.
