This handout contains the information below and login and password information. If you did not receive the handout, please contact Ms. Jones in the school office.

PowerSchool Parent PortalPowerSchool gives parents access to their student's attendance and academic records. Students can also check up on their own progress. Done together, this can be a valuable weekly activity and can open up some excellent discussions on work habits and responsibility. Note that although most teachers use PowerSchool, the frequency with which they update it may vary.Parents first need to use the Parent Access ID and Password to register and create their own username and password.
Accelerated ReaderAccelerated reader is the web-based program that tracks students' independent reading progress. This is a major component of our language arts program as students are expected to read for 30 minutes a night at home in addition to the reading at school. In the beginning of the year, students take a diagnostic test and are then assigned a points-based reading goal for the semester. When students complete books they take quizzes in the AR system. Parents can log to check their student's reading progress, help student select appropriate books, and see progress towards their student's individual points goal for the quarter. It is important that both parents and student know how to use this resource.

On the next page, select California Programs, the select 6th, 7th, or 8th grade text. To view the online textbook, you must use a different website.
