Dear Friends of King:

 Great things are happening at King!  The excitement at the Welcome Fair and Back to School Night was powerful and contagious. Our children are growing and learning because of a remarkable and dedicated staff, inspiring leaders, and the vigorous engagement of our parent community.

Financial support from King Families funds programs and initiatives that allow our students – and our community – to thrive.  To ensure the continuation of these opportunities, we ask every King family to join us in making a generous donation to the 2011-2012 Friends of King Campaign.  Your gift supports: 

§  Expanded Afterschool Opportunities for almost 400 student athletes to play on 20 afterschool sports teams. Sports and access to a wide range of afterschool enrichment activities are proven factors in student success. More than half of our athletes achieved honor roll!

§  Dedicated Technology Staffing to ensure our computer systems actively support learning.

§  Additional Edible Schoolyard Staffing to enhance the student experience in this valuable, nationally recognized program.

§  King Community Programs – We support the many events and projects that make King special, coordinating events from the Welcome Fair to the Eighth Grade Dance. We maintain the beautiful courtyard garden, provide parent education, donate classroom supplies and host staff appreciation luncheons.

Our school must raise a total of $150,000 for 2011-2012 to continue these programs. The Friends of King direct giving campaign is, by far, our largest fundraiser. Please give generously - this is your best opportunity to support our school.

The work we do at King, and the spirit of partnership and community for which we strive, reflect the hopes and dreams of our school’s namesake, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  Thank you for honoring his legacy – and our teachers, students and school - with your generous donation to the Friends of King.
