• The Writer’s Room project, offering one-on-one tutoring to help students organize, compose, revise, and proofread original written compositions 
• King Lifeguards, providing the safety and supervision necessary for every King student to learn to swim – a critical life-skill, especially in a coastal community 
• Field Trips to enhance the learning experience and open our students’ eyes to the greater world around them 
• Improvements to our much-loved gardens and yards, including our current initiative to bring art, game tables, greenery and enhanced social and play-space to the concrete plaza behind King’s main building, and 
• Organized playground activities, including a regular supply of balls, games and equipment, and funding for lunchtime Dining Commons chaperones and yard supervision. 

This year’s Friends of King fundraising goal is twofold. First, we seek 100% participation, and ask that EVERY FAMILY make a donation. Second, we ask for your most generous gift in reaching our campaign goal of $75,000 – the funds required to provide important programs and improvements for our students and school.

With all families participating, we can do it!

We need hundreds of donations at the $25, $50, $100 and $250 levels, fifty donations at the $500 level, and twenty-five donations at $1,000 (or more!). All gifts help us reach our goal and are equally appreciated as a show of your family’s gratitude and support for our students and school.

In addition to student-support initiatives, your gifts to the Friends of King Campaign fund community-wide PTA activities including:

• Early-year welcome events such as the PTA Café, 6th Grade Welcome and Back to School Dessert Reception; teacher and staff appreciation including a Back to School luncheon, Parent Teacher Conference dinner and holiday treats; parent education programs; and special student events including Science Day and the 8th Grade graduation and dance 
• Classroom technology and supplies, including books, digital cameras, computers, and tables for our art room 
• All mailings, fliers and school-wide communications, as well as the 6th Grade Directory 
• Expenses for other parent organizations such as King Parents of African American Students 4 Academic Achievement, LUNA, the English Language Learners Program, and more. 

Your donation to King Middle School is your “ovation” to our teachers, staff, students, volunteers and school. It provides enrichment for every student’s education and social development, and builds community, as well as gratitude.
